If You Love to Know More – Tea Facts for Connoisseurs

Kukicha is a Japanese green tea, also known as “twig tea,” made mainly from the stems and twigs of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) rather than just the leaves – which makes it quite unique. Its name comes from the Japanese word kuki, meaning “twig.”

Kukicha is celebrated for its mild, slightly sweet, nutty, and vegetal taste. Compared to other green teas, it has a lower caffeine content, making it an excellent choice for those sensitive to caffeine, for children, or for a soothing evening tea.

Like other fine Japanese teas, Kukicha is rich in L-theanine – an amino acid known for its relaxing properties, helping to calm the mind and promote focus.

The production process involves separating stems and twigs from the leaves during the making of teas such as sencha or matcha. They are then dried and often lightly roasted, which gives Kukicha its characteristic aroma and flavour.

Another reason connoisseurs love Kukicha: it can be steeped several times without losing its flavour, offering a long-lasting tea experience.

If You Love Tea Stories

The Legend of Piag The Fresh Tea: Kukicha & Yuzu

In a magical valley, where sunlight lazily filtered through the leaves, lived a gentle green fairy named Kukicha. Known for her kind spirit, she crafted enchanting herbs into potions of health and happiness.

One day, she met a fiery dragon named Yuzu, whose shimmering scales glowed with the colours of ripening citrus. Yuzu radiated energy and joy, sharing his zest for life with everyone around him. The fairy and the dragon became instant friends. Together they explored new flavours, blending herbs and fruits into magical creations. One sunny morning, they dreamed up a tea that would unite the calm of Kukicha with the radiant energy of Yuzu.

And so, Piag The Fresh Tea – Kukicha & Yuzu was born: a tea that tastes like a sunlit symphony of flavour.
