You’ll need:
-
-
Rooibos leaves – we encourage you to go eco and use loose-leaf tea, which you can brew in metal infusers or paper/cotton filters.
-
Your favorite milk – in our opinion, oat milk tastes best (you can easily make it yourself from soaked oats) because of its creamy and velvety texture.
-
Spices – a pinch of cinnamon, a few drops of real vanilla extract (not artificial flavoring), maybe a bit of nutmeg — mix and match your favorite warm spices.
-
A bit of honey – or another sweetener, such as agave syrup.
-
A pot for heating the milk.
-
A milk frother – if you don’t have one, no worries, you can use a French press to get that perfect foam.
-
Your favorite mug or glass ;)

If you’ve been following our blog closely, you might remember from the previous post that drinking rooibos offers not only great flavor but also quite a few health benefits.
Preparation:
Start by brewing a small, strong portion of rooibos. You’ll need 2.5–3 g of leaves, steeped for about 5–10 minutes in 60–100 ml of hot water. As you might recall from the previous post, rooibos cannot be oversteeped — the longer it stays in the water, the more intense the infusion becomes. Since we’ll be diluting it with milk, it needs to be strong.
In a pot, combine 150 ml of your chosen milk with 2–3 teaspoons of honey and spices. Heat everything to about 60°C, stirring occasionally to prevent the milk from burning. Froth the milk using a handheld frother or a French press.
Pour the rooibos into a glass and add the frothed milk. About one-third of the drink should consist of rooibos infusion. You can sprinkle the top with a bit of cocoa if you like.
Now you can sit back and enjoy your drink with your favorite book or a cookie ;)
