Though feasts abound in The Thousand and One Nights, tea is never once mentioned in its tales. We couldn’t allow that… so we imagined a story of our own—with Scheherazade, of course, and tea in the starring role!
Long ago, in a land of enchanted gardens and whispered tales, there lived the beautiful and wise Scheherazade. Each night, her stories captivated the Sultan. To delay her fate—execution at dawn, as had been the custom with every new bride—the Sultan allowed her to live another night, eager to hear the next tale. And so he listened, night after night, slowly falling in love—carefully, deeply, and passionately.
One evening, before Scheherazade began her tale, the Sultan said, “I would like some tea.” She prepared a delicate infusion: rare white tea, recently brought by traders, with fragrant jasmine blossoms floating proudly in the cup.
The Sultan took a sip. His heart warmed, his spirit lightened, and his soul drifted into a magical world filled with floral scents and peaceful dreams.
From that night forward, through all one thousand and one nights, they drank only this tea.
