White Melon – Par Excellence

This tea is truly a masterpiece par excellence.

Par excellence means: at its best, to the highest degree, in the fullest sense of the word.

The expression comes from French. Its exact path into the Polish language is not fully known, but it is believed to have entered in the 17th century, along with the vogue for French culture brought by Queen Maria Ludwika, wife of Polish kings Władysław IV and later John II Casimir.

It was this very Maria Ludwika who also introduced tea to Poland! Tea arrived here in the mid-17th century, in 1664, brought from France by the Queen. At first, it was available only to the nobility and the wealthy, but gradually it gained wider popularity. The influence of Russia, which also imported tea, contributed to spreading the custom of drinking it in Poland, especially in the form of samovar-brewed tea. Until the 19th century, tea was regarded as a medicinal herb, and it only became a common everyday beverage in Poland during that time.

How fortunate that tea is now so widely enjoyed! For this, we can thank a woman – a queen – Maria Ludwika.

If You Love to Know More – Curiosities for Connoisseurs

Baihao Yinzhen, also known as Silver Needle, is one of the most famous teas from China. It is made exclusively from young buds covered in a silvery down, carrying the fresh, delicate fragrance of white tea. Cultivated in China, it is revered as a true “white treasure.”

The leaves are harvested only once a year, in early spring, when they are still tender and fresh. They are dried in the sun or in the shade, without fermentation, which preserves their natural color, aroma, and healthful properties.

Its history is shrouded in legend: all the bushes that produce Silver Needle are said to descend from a single plant growing in the Hongxue cave in the Fuding region.

If You Love Stories About Tea

Deep inside the mysterious Hongxue cave, hidden in the enchanting Fuding region, grows a remarkable plant with shoots resembling delicate tea needles – the legendary Silver Needle. These silvery buds, like tiny arrows fallen from the stars, wait patiently for bold travelers to uncover their secret.

Legend has it that when the very first rays of the morning sun touch the cave, the plant awakens, and its silver tips begin to glow with a magical light. Drinking Silver Needle is like stepping into a fairytale realm, where time slows down and the soul finds rest.

Each cup feels like a journey into a dreamscape filled with peace and harmony, its taste a delicate dance of clouds across the sky. Sip it, and you are transported to a place where magic and nature entwine, and every moment becomes extraordinary.
