For the Curious – A Taste of Culture

We often think of apples as a symbol of Poland, but did you know that in Turkey they are just as beloved?
In Turkish culture, apples represent not only health, but also hospitality.
They play an important role in cuisine and daily life — from sweets to drinks, and especially in the famous apple tea served in bustling bazaars and on street corners across the country.

If You Love Tea Tales:

Sweet Nectar of Anatolia

In a small village at the foot of the Taurus Mountains lived an old man named Mustafa.
He was known for his silver beard, weary eyes, and boundless love for apples.
Each morning, as the sun lazily broke through the mist, Mustafa walked to his orchard. With care and reverence, he handpicked ripe apples — each one a precious jewel of nature.

These were no ordinary apples. They were Turkish apples, famed for their sweetness and juiciness.
Their sun-kissed skin gleamed like gold, and their flesh was crisp and aromatic. Mustafa handled them gently, determined not to bruise a single one.

Back home, he sliced the apples thinly and dried them under the warm Anatolian sun.
The process was long and required patience, but Mustafa knew the wait was worth it.
His dried apples were like sweet nectar — the very essence of summer and the taste of Anatolia.

He shared them generously with the whole village.
Children adored their sweetness, while adults valued their nourishing power.
Rich in vitamins and minerals, the dried apples were a wholesome, natural treat — a true gift of the earth.

One day, a weary traveler arrived in the village, hungry and tired. Mustafa offered him a drink brewed from his dried apples.
The traveler took a sip and exclaimed in wonder:

“This tastes like nectar! Where did you find such magic?”

Mustafa smiled and told him of his orchard, his love for apples, and the long, patient process of drying them.
The traveler was deeply moved by his kindness.

“Thank you for this drink,” he said. “It has filled me not only with strength, but with hope.”

He continued his journey, carrying with him the taste of Mustafa’s dried apples —
a symbol of generosity and goodness,
a memory of the sweet nectar of Anatolia,
and the kindness of one humble man.
